    Books By The Bridge Recap

In case you didn’t know, I recently attended Books by the Bridge in Sydney. This wasn’t my first signing but for some unknown reason I was nervous…but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start with the road trip! I woke up at 4am Thursday morning so I could pack up the rest of the car, shower and get on the road to be at my trusty PA’s house, Maci, at 6:30am. The idea was to be at Cherie’s house by 7am but Cherie surprised me by being at Maci’s. We all hit the road at 7:03am. You’re all wondering why we drove? My pre-orders. Unlike some of the other Authors,…

    Self-Discipline & Goal Setting

Last year was a good year for me personally. I have a husband I adore; I live in a house that has an unbelievably beautiful view (we are renting), and I finally found my tribe. But on a professional level, I felt like a failure. I released three books, a novella, and a short story. You’re all thinking “That’s amazing!” but the plan was to release another two books and a Christmas novella. Why didn’t I do it? I suck at organization. I suck at making myself stick to a deadline. Oh, I have a plethora of excuses, but the truth is I lack self-discipline. If I was working for…

    Writing is HARD

Hello! Most of you know I do this full-time. Normal things can get in the way, my husband, friends, housework, the usual everyday stuff. I was supposed to have 2 Books and a Christmas Novella out before the end of the year. Right now, we will be lucky to have one book. I’m plodding away at Savage Truth, The Grinders Book 1. It’s Truth’s Story. It is coming along but it’s not easy. You see I want this to be a really good story, I want you all to fall in love with Truth as much as I have. That’s when suddenly the washing seems really important or mopping the…

    Be Courageous!

Writing can be extremely rewarding, especially in those moments where you read a great review or hear from your readers about what they loved or how they connected with your characters. It can also be scary as hell, yes? I was procrastinating, shhhh don’t tell anyone, and came across this quote by Holley Gerth on Pinterest. It made me think of the story I just finished writing for a ‘Super Secret Release’ coming up on October 21st. It’s a multi-genre, multi-author book BUT it is NOT an anthology. This is something that will change the face of reading, a true #readingrevolution you could say. I had to go above and…

    Sacrifice Equals Success

I recently came across this video on The Chic Site and I’ve watched it multiple times now. It’s short, sweet and punchy! Actually, I’m pretty sure Rachel is talking directly to me 😉 I wanted to share it, hopefully it will motivate you too. What’s your big goal, either immediate or down the track? What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve success?   Going into the weekend, I have to ask myself what I’m willing to sacrifice over the next few days to meet my word count goal for my next book due out in October. Did you know, Savage Truth is coming? Yep, Truth from The Grinders in my…

Outlaw Author Motorcycle Convention – Author Signing in Mississippi

Thought I might tell you all a little bit about what I’ve been up to for the last month. Beware…. Long post to follow, but I hope you find it entertaining 🙂 On the 24th of June I attended the Outlaw Author Motorcycle Convention (OAMC) in Meridian, Mississippi. We, my hubby SL was with me, left Brisbane on Wednesday the 22nd of June at 10am. Now, we live in Toowoomba and Brisbane is just over an hour away. I love my SL but he likes to be early for planes, so we left home at 5am…I am NOT a morning person. The plane arrived in Los Angeles at 6am on…

    Technological Idiot

My mentor Nina Levine tells me I have to connect to Twitter and have it go thru Facebook… I am a techo-idiot… I have a hard enough time figuring out acronyms – and yes sometimes I give up and just google them! Hell, just setting up this Blog, which I forget to even post in, was hard enough… Something that I think will only take me 10 to 15 minutes takes well over an hour and I don’t want to bother anyone so I try and persevere. See the problem with asking them for help is I just don’t even know the basics…so when they go “Ohhh, you haven’t actually…

    Outside Influences

I had all these great intentions of finishing my book by 28th…not going to happen. Apart from the fact that I am my biggest saboteur, I have a cat that is not well. I don’t have any children, I have two cats, a British Shorthair and a Burmese. The Burmese is called Jack. He’s always been a bit special and not in a good way. He’s sensitive, he’s nervous, he has OCD, he bites his nails…the list really does go on. For a little while he’s been vomiting and at first I thought he was just eating too fast and if you yell at him, he vomits – just thought…

    What To Wear?

So , I’m not sure if I mentioned that I quit my job in order to write full time. Actually that’s not true…I have a really bad back. I was working in a luggage store. It’s actually very physical work – not like labouring for eight hours but still – it’s up and down ladders to reach over your head to get 4kg+ suitcases up and down to sell and to re-stock. Then if you ever go into the backroom of one of those places, shelving goes all the way to the ceiling so they can pack it in. It’s a pretty brainless job though…but I did enjoy it. I’m…
